Hello! My name is Schylia (Shy-La) and my pronouns are they/them. I am from Washington state and am licensed both there and in Utah.

I’ve been doing hair professionally since 2015. I graduated beauty school in 2017 with my associates in Cosmetology and hit the ground running. I began in Seattle at the Rudy’s Barbershop internship and learned SO MUCH from my wonderful instructors there, and later my awesome coworkers at the Pioneer Square and Capitol Hill Rudy’s locations. I really uncovered a passion for barbering and cutting of all kinds. I constantly strive to learn more and expand my skills. In January 2020 I got the awesome opportunity to start work in downtown Bremerton (a large navy base town) at Uptown Barbershop, where my skills and knowledge continued to grow. I learned classic barbering techniques and how to integrate them with more modern styles and techniques. I am very proud of how far I have come and I fucking love what I do.

As much as I love hair cutting, detailing to create the perfect shape, and accentuating a persons best features, I also have a passion for hair coloring. I truly let my artistic side show when it comes to hair coloring. Whether it be foil placements, creating a color formula that provides depth and dimension to your natural color, or freehand painting with lightener and/or fashion colors, I think you’ll love what we can create together.

I started dog grooming in 2008, and after 7 years of that I decided it was time to pursue my first passion, cosmetology. Due to my background, I believe that I have a different approach to barbering and hairstyling. I mix techniques I used to trim dogs hair into creating the perfect haircut that grows out well, is easy to maintain and style, and looks great! From the moment you leave my chair to the moment you sit back down for your next visit, I want you to love your style.

I strive to make sure my chair is as inclusive of a place as it can be. I am a genderless stylist, meaning I charge for your hair, not your sex or gender. I always respect pronouns and personal identities, and do my best not to assume anything. I am skilled in cutting all textures of hair and welcome all ethnicities and cultures. I have experience with special needs and sensory sensitive individuals, as well as children and senior citizens. Basically I can do it all, and I can’t wait to see what we can create together!
